Celebrating Unsung Heroes

Whatever role you play in educating students – teacher, aide, bus driver, nurse, administrator, counselor, custodian or any other role at Greenville County Schools – you are a vital link to every child’s success! To honor the district’s amazing staff, GCS is celebrating American Education Week November 14-18, 2022. This week is set aside to shine a light on those who give selflessly each day to ensure success for every child, especially employees who are so important to what the district does every day but are not always recognized publicly for their contributions.

As part of our American Education Week campaign, GCS is encouraging employees to celebrate the unsung heroes around them, let them know they are appreciated and share photos of these employees on social media using the hashtags #gcsAEW22 and #gcsHeroes. GCS will post videos on this page of the website throughout the week to honor our dedicated staff members.

During the week, GCS will celebrate its 11,000-plus staff members who are keeping students engaged, responding to social-emotional needs, providing meals, developing and improving technical skills, transporting them to clean, safe school buildings, connecting families to schools virtually and developing out-of-the-box solutions to whatever unique circumstances each child faces.

GCS will recognize employees each day of the week in the following categories:

Monday – School Support Staff Tuesday – Transportation Staff Wednesday – Educators Thursday – Operations and Maintenance Staff Friday – District Staff
