A high-tech machine manufacturer headquartered in Austria has announced plans to invest $8.5 million and create nearly 100 jobs when it establishes a facility in Greenville County, a release from Gov. Henry McMaster’s office said.
Kostwein, a company founded in 1921, produces machines, modules, and high-tech components for all sectors of mechanical engineering. The proposed location at 500 Hartness Drive will be its first facility in the U.S.
“Kostwein is a family company with a 100-year history acting in the build-to-print business,” Kostwein Group CEO Hans Kostwein said in the release. “We are proud that our customers are world market leaders in the different fields of machine production. Our headquarters is in Austria, and we have production facilities in Croatia and India – totaling 1,200 employees in the group. We are glad to announce that we are growing our global production footprint with the manufacturing facility in Greenville County.”
The completion of the new 92,000-square-foot facility will expand Kostwein’s machine manufacturing and customer support capabilities in the U.S.
Completion of the new facility is expected by March 2022. The company plans to employ about 95 people.
“We’re excited to welcome Kostwein to South Carolina,” McMaster said in the release. “Their decision to build the company’s first U.S. manufacturing facility in Greenville County is a big win for the community and another reason to celebrate in South Carolina.”
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits to incentivize the project, and Greenville County was awarded a $300,000 Set-Aside grant to assist with costs.
