Furman senior Harris Barth tied for 24th place on Mar. 24 to lead the Paladins at the 20th Hootie Intercollegiate, held at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, South Carolina.
The tournament featured a competitive field with six Power Four teams. Barth, from Atlanta, Georgia, finished two under par after posting a final-round score of 78. Senior Zach Frazer recorded a one-over-par total and tied for 36th place with three birdies in his final round. Senior Clark Akers ended three over par and tied for 47th after scoring an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole and three birdies during Tuesday’s round.
Redshirt sophomore Walter Anderson finished nine over par to tie for 73rd place after carding a birdie on No. 6 in his last round. Sophomore Ludvig Josefsson was ten over par and tied for 76th following a third-round score of 79. Freshman Cameron Reed played as an individual and placed 78th with an eleven-over-par finish.
Frankie Harris of South Carolina won the individual championship by one stroke at twelve under par. Co-host College of Charleston secured the team title at thirty-five under par, finishing six strokes ahead of co-host South Carolina, which is ranked forty-third nationally.
Furman placed thirteenth overall with a combined team score of seven over par among strong competition that included Kansas (third), Purdue (tied fourth), and Clemson (tied fourth). The Paladins will next compete in Vanderbilt’s Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tennessee from April third through fifth.
