Bon Secours has named Scott Opperman as vice president of mission for the Bon Secours Hampton Roads market, effective June 20. In this role, Opperman will lead the integration of the health care ministry’s Mission and values into the market’s culture and all strategies, operations and decisions.

“We are thrilled to welcome Scott to Bon Secours. As a faith-based health system with a focus on delivering quality, compassionate care, our Mission is what sets us apart,” said Pat Davis-Hagens, market president of Bon Secours – Hampton Roads. “With Scott’s extensive background serving in faith-based health care, he will be a guiding light to our leaders and associates as they seek to care for our community.”

Opperman comes to the ministry from Trinity Health in Michigan where he served in a variety of leadership and mission integration roles. In addition to serving as a member of the senior leadership team for Trinity Health Saint Mary’s, Opperman also provided presence and contributions on the leadership team of Trinity Health Medical Group – West Michigan. Beyond his health care mission leadership, Opperman has more than a decade of experience in higher education.

“I’m excited to join the Bon Secours ministry, which is committed in its Mission to extend the compassionate ministry of Jesus,” Opperman said. “I look forward to working closely with our leaders, providers and associates to enrich how we are fulfilling our Mission, living our values and actualizing our vision.”

Opperman earned his bachelor’s degree from John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio, and holds master’s degrees in theological studies from the University of Notre Dame and religious education from Loyola University in Chicago. He also pursued doctoral studies in philosophical and systematic theology at Durham University in England.
