Derrick Quattlebaum named 2026 Best Lawyers ‘Lawyer of the Year’ for insurance law in Greenville

Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd, P.A. announced on April 9 that Derrick Quattlebaum has been named the 2026 “Lawyer of the Year” for Insurance Law in Greenville, South Carolina by Best Lawyers.

The recognition is given to individual attorneys who receive the highest overall peer feedback in their practice area and geographic region. Only one lawyer per year is selected for each category and location through Best Lawyers’ peer-review process.

This marks Quattlebaum’s third time receiving the “Lawyer of the Year” honor for Insurance Law, having previously earned it in 2020 and 2024. He has also been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for both Insurance Law and Litigation – ERISA since 2011. In addition, he was recognized as “Lawyer of the Year” for Litigation – ERISA in Greenville multiple times: specifically, in 2012, 2021, 2023, and 2025.

Quattlebaum has more than three decades of experience representing major insurance carriers across South Carolina with a focus on life, health and disability claims as well as ERISA litigation and coverage disputes. His practice extends to product liability matters and complex litigation involving corporate, construction, and financial services clients.

Outside his legal work, Quattlebaum participates actively within both legal circles and civic organizations. He serves on the South Carolina Supreme Court’s Commission on Lawyer Conduct and is a member of both the American Board of Trial Advocates (South Carolina Chapter) and the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association.
