Furman head coach Clay Hendrix announced on April 28 the addition of three graduate transfers to the Paladins’ football team.

The new players are quarterback Jake Garcia from Michigan, cornerback Aaron Davis from Bucknell, and offensive lineman Alofaletauia Maluia from West Georgia. All three athletes have one year of eligibility left with the program.

Garcia, originally from Whittier, California, spent last season at Michigan after playing for East Carolina in 2024. At East Carolina, he passed for 1,426 yards and eight touchdowns and rushed for two more scores. Garcia began his college career at the University of Miami in 2021 but was sidelined by injury after appearing in one game. In 2022 with Miami, he played eight games and completed 68 of 115 passes for 803 yards and five touchdowns. He transferred to Missouri but did not play during the 2023 season before joining East Carolina in January of 2024. Garcia holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from ECU and previously led Grayson High School to a state championship during his senior year.

Davis is a native of Brandywine, Maryland. He started at Wheeling University where he recorded significant defensive statistics including leading all NCAA divisions with pass breakups during his second season. After transferring to Bucknell in 2024, Davis played in twenty games over two seasons with notable performances such as a long interception return for a touchdown against Lehigh in an overtime win. He is expected to graduate soon from Bucknell with an economics degree.

Maluia comes from Henderson, Nevada. His collegiate journey included Northern Arizona and Utah Tech before transferring to West Georgia where he appeared in seventeen games over two seasons as an offensive lineman. Last fall he started eight games at guard as part of a team that finished ranked twenty-fourth nationally according to the AFCA FCS final poll.
