Furman finished as the runner-up on Apr. 29 at the 2026 Southern Conference Men’s Golf Championship, held at Solina Golf Club in West Columbia, South Carolina.
The result marks Furman’s best finish under head coach Matt Davidson and their highest placement since winning the championship in 2010. The Paladins recorded a final round score of five-under par to secure second place with a total score of +3 for the tournament.
Chattanooga claimed first place with a total score of five-under par, finishing eight strokes ahead of Furman and earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Regional. Mercer placed third at +5, followed by UNCG (+9) and East Tennessee State (+15).
Four Furman players finished among the top 21 individually. Senior Harris Barth led the team with a fourth-place finish after shooting a final-round 67 that included five birdies on the back nine. Senior Clark Akers tied for twelfth with an even-par round highlighted by three birdies between holes thirteen and sixteen. Sophomore Ludvig Josefsson tied for nineteenth after going four-under from holes fourteen through sixteen, including an eagle on hole fifteen. Senior Zach Frazer tied for twenty-first after carding four birdies in his final round.
Individual champion Kelvin Hernandez from UNCG set a new course record with a final-round score of 65 to win by one stroke and earn automatic regional qualification.
The event concluded Furman’s season on a strong note under Davidson’s leadership.
