The Furman men’s golf team will compete in the 2026 Southern Conference Men’s Golf Championship from Monday through Wednesday at Solina Golf Club in West Columbia, South Carolina, according to an April 26 announcement. The event begins with twosomes teeing off at 9 a.m. on Monday, and Furman will start on hole No. 1 alongside UNC Greensboro.
The tournament is important as it determines the conference champion and grants an automatic bid to the NCAA Regional for both the winning team and individual medalist. Admission is free for spectators, and live scoring will be available online.
Furman’s lineup features seniors Harris Barth, Zach Frazer, Clark Akers; sophomores Ludvig Josefsson and David Oliver IV; with redshirt sophomore Walter Anderson traveling as an alternate. Head coach Matt Davidson said, “The SoCon Championship is always the event we have most circled on our calendar each year. I am really excited about the host course this year as well, Solina Golf Club. It will be a fantastic test and truly one that will define the best team that week. We feel ready for the challenge and the opportunity.”
Furman aims to win its first Southern Conference title since 2010 after finishing fifth last season when Akers and Josefsson tied for seventeenth place individually. This season began with Akers and Frazer tying for twentieth at the Gopher Invitational, followed by Barth’s first career individual victory at the Bearcat Invitational.
In recent tournaments, Barth also led Furman with a sixth-place finish at SMU’s Trinity Forest Invitational while Josefsson was top finisher for Furman at Michael A. Marino Classic in March by tying for twenty-second place.
Five teams from the Southern Conference are ranked among this season’s top 124 nationally: Chattanooga (67), ETSU (81), UNC Greensboro (112), Furman (119), and Western Carolina (124). The winner of this week’s championship secures an automatic berth into NCAA Regionals.
