Furman University will host the Samford Bulldogs in a Southern Conference men’s basketball game on Thursday at Timmons Arena. The matchup, sponsored by Pepsi, will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network with tip-off scheduled for 5 p.m. Tickets are available through Furman’s TicketMaster page. Fans can also listen to the game on The Fan Upstate radio stations and through the Audacy app. Live audio and statistics links are accessible at FurmanPaladins.com.

Furman enters the contest with a 14-7 overall record and a 5-3 mark in conference play. The team has been off since defeating UNC Greensboro 89-66 last Friday. In that game, point guard Alex Wilkins led with 27 points, while Tom House added 25 points, including seven three-pointers. Freshman Cole Bowser recorded career highs with 13 points and 13 rebounds as Furman outscored UNC Greensboro 30-11 over the final eight minutes to end a two-game losing streak.

The win improved Furman’s road record to 5-2 this season and marked their 79th true road victory in the past decade, which ranks fourth nationally. The Paladins are currently tied for third place in the Southern Conference standings, trailing ETSU and Wofford.

On Thursday, Furman will seek a regular season sweep of Samford after winning their previous meeting in Birmingham earlier this month by a score of 77-73. In that game, Wilkins scored a career-high 28 points and Charles Johnston had 14 rebounds.

Furman leads the all-time series against Samford 30-12 and has won four consecutive games and thirteen of the last sixteen matchups between the teams. Last year’s contest in Greenville resulted in a narrow Paladin victory.

After facing Samford, Furman will play Chattanooga at home on Sunday, February 1, with that game set to air on ESPN2.
