Furman University’s men’s tennis team secured a 4-2 win over William & Mary in a non-conference match held Saturday morning at Coastal Carolina’s Stevens Tennis Complex in Conway, South Carolina. With this result, Furman’s season record moves to 2-5, while William & Mary falls to 1-2.

The Paladins established an early advantage by winning the doubles point. At the No. 1 position, Nicolas Dispas and Nico Snyder defeated Oliver Hague and Gur Trakhtenberg with a score of 6-2. Alex Han and Finn Pollard followed up at No. 3 with a 6-3 victory over Nikita Bortnichek and Dylan Chou.

In singles play, Furman recorded wins at the No. 1, No. 3, and No. 5 spots to secure the overall match victory. The teams exchanged victories in the first four singles matches; Furman won at No. 1 and No. 3, while William & Mary took the match at No. 2. Duggal gave Furman another point at No. 3 by defeating Bortnichek in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4.

William & Mary added another win at No. 6 before Snyder earned his second singles win of the weekend for Furman by overcoming Trakhtenberg in three sets (6-3, 3-6, 6-4) at the top spot.
