The Furman men’s tennis team defeated the Wofford Terriers 4-3 at Mickel Tennis Center on April 9, closing out their regular season with a Southern Conference win.
This result marks Furman’s seventeenth consecutive victory over Wofford since 2012. The Paladins improved their overall record to 8-14 and finished conference play at 4-3, while the Terriers dropped to a season record of 6-11 and are now 1-6 in league matches.
Furman secured the doubles point by winning all three matches. Walker Allen and Theophile Joly opened with a decisive win at No. 3 doubles, followed by Landon Ecarma and Alex Han clinching the point at No. 2. Nicolas Dispas and Nico Snyder completed the sweep with a tiebreaker victory at No. 1 doubles.
In singles competition, both teams won three matches each. Key victories for Furman came from Snyder at No.1 singles, Allen at No.4, and Han at No.6. After dropping his first set in singles play, Han rallied from behind in the third set to secure six straight games for a comeback win that sealed the match for Furman.
The Paladins will next compete in Chattanooga during the Southern Conference Men’s Tennis Championships scheduled for April 16 through April 18.
