Furman University advanced to second place on Apr. 28 after the second round of the 2026 Southern Conference Championship at Solina Golf Club in West Columbia, South Carolina.
The tournament is significant as the winning team will secure an automatic bid to the NCAA Regional, and the individual champion will also qualify for regional competition.
Three Furman golfers are among the top 14 players after two rounds. Sophomore David Oliver IV finished with a score of one-over-par (72) and is tied for tenth place, six strokes behind Mercer’s Nathan Todd, who leads individually. Seniors Harris Barth and Clark Akers are both tied for fourteenth at three-over-par; Barth recorded an even-par round with six birdies while Akers finished with a score of 75. Sophomore Ludvig Josefsson stands in twenty-fifth position, and senior Zach Frazer is thirtieth overall.
Chattanooga holds first place at three-under-par, leading Furman by eleven strokes. Western Carolina trails closely behind Furman in third place by one stroke, followed by Mercer and UNCG rounding out the top five teams.
Due to forecasted bad weather in West Columbia, Wednesday’s final round will begin at 10:30 a.m., with groups starting from both hole No. 1 and No. 10. The Paladins are scheduled to tee off from hole No. 1 at 11:20 a.m., paired with Chattanooga for this decisive round.
