Josh Murphy has been appointed as the new wide receivers coach at Furman University, according to an announcement from head coach Clay Hendrix. Murphy worked with the Paladins during the 2025 season in offensive quality control and assisted with coaching wide receivers under Drew Dudzik. Dudzik will transition to coaching Furman’s quarterbacks for the 2026 season, while Justin Roper will continue as offensive coordinator.
“Josh is a terrific young coach who did an outstanding job for our team in every aspect this past year,” Hendrix said. “His work made it an easy decision to promote him to lead our wide receiver group.”
Before joining Furman, Murphy was a student assistant coach at East Carolina University during the 2024 football season. As a player, he spent four years as a wide receiver for East Carolina’s football program and received recognition on the American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team and ECU Director of Athletics Honor Roll.
Murphy is originally from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in May 2024.
