The Furman softball team will finish its regular season with a three-game series against the Chattanooga Mocs at Frost Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn., according to a May 1 announcement from the university.
This final series matters for both teams as they prepare for postseason play. The games are scheduled to begin with a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m., followed by a single game on Sunday at 2 p.m. All matchups will be streamed live on ESPN+, and fans can find links for live streams and statistics online at FurmanPaladins.com.
Furman enters the weekend holding an overall record of 13-36 and a conference record of 5-13. The Paladins have shown improvement recently, winning eight of their last fourteen games, including taking two out of three games from Wofford Terriers last weekend in Greenville. Currently, Furman is in eighth place in the Southern Conference standings, trailing by two games behind a three-way tie for fifth place.
Chattanooga comes into the series after securing a win against first-place UNC Greensboro last Sunday, bringing their overall record to 19-27-1 and their conference mark to 7-11. Last year, Chattanooga swept Furman in all three games played at Pepsi Stadium and holds an advantage in the all-time series between these schools with an 87-28 lead.
After this weekend’s contests conclude, attention will turn to the Southern Conference Softball Championship set for May 6–9 at Frost Stadium.
