Furman women’s golf team in second place after two rounds at Valspar Augusta Invitational

The Furman women’s golf team finished Saturday’s two rounds of the Valspar Augusta Invitational in second place at three under par, according to a March 14 update from the tournament. The event is being held at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.

Missouri leads the field with a score of twelve under par, holding a nine-stroke advantage over Furman. Kentucky is currently third at one under par, trailing Furman by two shots. Indiana and Minnesota are tied for fourth place among the seventeen teams competing.

Furman’s performance included nineteen birdies and an eagle during the second round, matching their second-best round of the year with a score of 284. Freshman Olivia Hasselbach is tied for second individually after shooting an opening-round 69 and following up with an even-par 72. She sits just one stroke behind Missouri’s Melanie Walker, who leads at four under par.

Juniors Audrey Ryu and Jenna Madden are both tied for fourth at two under par. Ryu recorded a first-round 73 followed by a five-birdie round of 69. Madden opened with a 72 and then shot a two-under-par 70 that included four birdies and an eagle on the sixth hole.

Other Furman competitors include freshman Ava Hanneman, who is tied for thirtieth at three over par after rounds of 75 and 73, and sophomore Eva Ringwald, who rebounded from an opening-round 78 to shoot a second-round 73 with five birdies. Sophomore Andrea Marin Raga, playing as an individual, is tied for seventy-seventh after rounds of 81 and 77.

The tournament will conclude Sunday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. Furman will play alongside Missouri, Kentucky, and Indiana in the final round. Admission to the event is free and live results can be found online.
