U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) has publicly endorsed President Donald Trump’s recent actions aimed at increasing law enforcement presence and safety measures in Washington, D.C. Graham issued a statement supporting the activation of the National Guard and the federalization of the DC Metro Police Department.

“I completely and totally support President Trump’s efforts to bring law, order and safety to our nation’s capital by activating the National Guard and federalizing the DC Metro Police Department.

“There is a law and order crisis in our nation’s capital that must be addressed. It is embarrassing to our country that the District of Columbia has off the chart rates of violent crime, including murder and carjackings.

“Mr. President: Do what you must to make the District of Columbia safe again.”

The senator cited high rates of violent crime as a reason for urgent action in Washington, D.C., emphasizing concerns about public safety in the city.
