The Greenville Tech Foundation honored two major donors and highlighted their critical role in helping the college develop highly qualified students for local employment at the 2022 Champions for Student Success held on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at the Dreisbach/Anderson Student Success Center on the Barton Campus of Greenville Technical College.
Honorees were Bank of America and Mr. Arthur “Buddy” Rowley Wallace. These honorees have supported programs and scholarships that will impact hundreds of Greenville Technical College students each year. Bank of America has focused on the economic mobility of students through scholarships, strategic program support, and additions to campus facilities totaling more than $329,000. Buddy Wallace created an endowed scholarship in his mother’s memory and soon was supporting the dreams of up to 10 allied health and nursing students per year. In 2020, Wallace’s final gift of more than $2 million to the Mary Woodside Wallace Endowed Scholarship Fund created the college’s largest single endowment to date.
“At our annual Champions for Student Success event, we honor some of the many partners who allow us to produce well-qualified graduates that allow Upstate employers to grow,” said Dr. Keith Miller, president of Greenville Technical College. “We are very grateful to the businesses and individuals that invest in education and join with us to produce the talent that drives a strong economy.”
Proceeds from the evening will help the Foundation advance the college’s mission of transforming lives through education. The event raised more than $154,000 in unrestricted funds.
“The generosity of donors like Bank of America and Buddy Wallace helps ensure the success of Greenville Technical College students,” said Ann Wright, vice president for advancement with the Greenville Tech Foundation. “Their investment in both our students and our facilities is helping Greenville Technical College train and educate the next generation of our community’s workforce.”
