Senator Lindsey Graham, a longtime U.S. Senator representing South Carolina and former chair of the Senate Budget Committee, shared several updates on his official Twitter account between May 8 and May 9, 2026.

On May 8, Graham acknowledged community support at a local event, stating: “A great Friday crowd in Lexington County! And a special thanks to Sheriff Koon and Congressman Joe Wilson for their support.”

Later that day, he addressed immigration policy and legislative efforts in response to sanctuary city policies. He wrote: “Sheridan Gorman is not with us today because of Democrat sanctuary city policies. Congress must pass my bill —the End Sanctuary Cities Act — to send sanctuary city politicians to federal prison if they don’t comply.”

On May 9, Graham commented on international security concerns regarding maritime shipping lanes. He posted: “The idea of Project Freedom Plus is very intriguing and I believe it can bear fruit. Providing a path for safe passage of international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz — in the face of Iranian resistance — is a game changer. The plus part in my opinion would envision more”

Graham’s public service background includes over three decades as a colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and an educational foundation from the University of South Carolina, where he earned both undergraduate and law degrees (official website). Raised in Central, South Carolina within a blue-collar family, Graham has maintained close ties to his state throughout his career.
