Senator Lindsey Graham, who has served in the U.S. Senate representing South Carolina and chaired the Senate Budget Committee, commented on several political developments in a series of tweets posted between May 4 and May 5, 2026.

On May 4, Graham criticized Minnesota Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan’s stance regarding the Laken Riley Act. In his post, he wrote: “You literally can’t make this up. Minnesota Lt. Governor and Democrat Senate candidate Peggy Flanagan thinks she’ll win over socialist primary voters by disparaging the Laken Riley Act, which simply requires that illegals who commit burglary and theft stay in jail. I didn’t”.

Later that day, on May 5, Graham praised President Biden’s Project Freedom initiative. He stated: “Project Freedom is another masterclass from @POTUS. This is a consequential moment, one our European allies shouldn’t let pass them by.”

In a subsequent tweet posted minutes later on May 5, Graham discussed Middle East diplomacy efforts: “Normalization between Saudi Arabia and Israel would be an incredible achievement. That outcome is within reach thanks to the decisive action President @realDonaldTrump took when others stood by.”

Graham’s comments reflect his ongoing engagement with national security and foreign policy issues as well as domestic legislative debates. According to his official website, Graham served as a colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserves for 33 years (source). He grew up in Central, South Carolina in a blue-collar family and earned both undergraduate and law degrees from the University of South Carolina (source).
