Senator Lindsey Graham, a Republican representing South Carolina, posted several statements on his official X (formerly Twitter) account in September 2025 addressing issues related to free speech, university reputation, and international leadership.

On September 12, 2025, Graham commented on the consequences of public statements made about a tragic event at Clemson University. He wrote: “Free speech doesn’t prevent you from being fired if you’re stupid and have poor judgement. The despicable, inappropriate and classless statements about a tragic event should not diminish a great university like @ClemsonUniv. However, in my opinion, those who made these”.

The following day, on September 13, 2025, Graham endorsed another commentator’s remarks by stating: “.⁦@MorganOrtagus⁩ is spot on.”

Later that same day, Graham called for decisive action from Western nations regarding global events. He posted: “The free world must act, and America must lead. My statement with @RepBrianFitz:”
