Senator Lindsey Graham, representing South Carolina, addressed several topics on his social media account on July 29, 2025. In a series of posts, he commented on the confirmation of David Wright to lead the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and discussed the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
In his first post, Graham expressed support for David Wright’s leadership at the NRC. On July 29, 2025, he wrote: “Very pleased that my good friend David Wright from South Carolina was once again confirmed by the U.S. Senate to lead the @NRCgov. David has a wide and deep understanding of the nuclear industry, and has served our state and nation for many years. He’s the right person at the”.
Later that day, Graham turned his attention to developments in Gaza. At 23:49 UTC, he stated: “If Hamas lays down their weapons and their leaders take safe passage out of Gaza, then the possibility of a ceasefire and a new beginning for the West Bank and Gaza exists. Anything short of Hamas disarming and leaving would be unacceptable.”
Shortly after, Graham commented on humanitarian efforts in Gaza: “To those who are urging for the creation of humanitarian corridors going into Gaza to deliver food aid for the benefit of the Palestinian people, I support this effort as long as it doesn’t empower Hamas or further put Israel at risk. I want to be crystal clear on my thoughts”.
David Wright’s confirmation marks another term leading the NRC; he is recognized for his extensive experience in nuclear policy and regulation. The NRC is responsible for regulating commercial nuclear power plants and other uses of nuclear materials through licensing, inspection, and enforcement.
Graham’s remarks about Gaza come amid ongoing debates over ceasefire conditions between Israel and Hamas as well as international calls for increased humanitarian access to civilians affected by conflict in Gaza.
