Lindsey Graham, U.S. Senator from South Carolina, made several statements on his Twitter account on July 23, 2025, addressing issues related to the investigation of former President Donald Trump and a major drug bust in South Carolina.

In his first post of the day, Graham criticized Democrats for their handling of the Russia investigation, stating on July 23, 2025: “Democrats are trying to rewrite the history of the Russia hoax. They have been out to get President Trump since 2016.”

Later that day, he commented on media coverage regarding the same topic. On July 23, 2025, Graham wrote: “The media sold the Russia hoax for years, and now they’re providing cover. We can’t let that happen.”

Shifting focus in a subsequent tweet posted at 19:57 UTC on July 23, 2025, Graham commended law enforcement agencies for a significant operation against fentanyl distribution. He stated: “Well done to the @DEAHQ, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department @LCSD_News, South Carolina’s U.S. Attorney Bryan Stirling, and everyone else involved in this historic drug bust. The fentanyl seized in this investigation, equivalent to 36 million lethal doses…”

The term “Russia hoax” is commonly used by supporters of Donald Trump to describe investigations into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election and possible connections between Trump’s campaign and Russian officials. Multiple investigations were conducted over several years; while Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report found insufficient evidence to charge any American with conspiring with Russia regarding election interference, it documented extensive contacts between Trump associates and Russians as well as efforts by Russia to influence the election outcome.

Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid responsible for a significant number of overdose deaths across the United States in recent years. Law enforcement agencies frequently publicize large seizures due to concerns about public health and safety.
