Senator Lindsey Graham has recently made several statements on his social media account, addressing issues related to media coverage of the Russia investigation, U.S. foreign policy toward Russia, and calls for further investigation into actions by former government officials.
On July 23, 2025, Graham posted a message criticizing major news organizations and referencing the findings of the Durham Report: “.@PressSec is right. I’ve said it since the Durham Report was released: The Washington Post and New York Times should have their Pulitzer Prizes taken back for their part in the Russia collusion hoax. The entire episode was a politically motivated sham.”
Later that same day, Graham commented on potential tariffs related to Russian energy exports and U.S. policy toward President Vladimir Putin: “I hope this is not true. To those who believe President Trump is bluffing when it comes to putting tariffs on countries who prop up Putin’s war machine by purchasing Russia’s cheap oil and gas, you’ll be making a huge mistake. It’s time to get Putin to the peace table to end this” (July 23, 2025).
On July 24, 2025, Graham called for an official inquiry into alleged manipulation of national security institutions during the Obama administration: “For the good of the country, Senator @JohnCornyn and I urge Attorney General Bondi to appoint a special counsel to investigate the extent to which former President Obama, his staff and administration officials manipulated the U.S. national security apparatus for a political”.
The Durham Report referenced by Graham investigated FBI activities related to allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and found significant flaws in how some aspects were handled by federal authorities. In recent years, there has been ongoing debate over media reporting on these investigations as well as continued scrutiny regarding foreign influence operations targeting U.S. interests.
