Senator Lindsey Graham, a Republican representing South Carolina, shared updates on September 9, 2025, regarding meetings and recent events in the Middle East, as well as commenting on a high-profile murder case.
In his first post of the day, Graham wrote about discussions with Israeli officials: “I just had a very productive and candid meeting with my dear friend @AmbDermer, Israel’s Minister of Strategic Affairs, about today’s events and the way forward in the Middle East writ large. I also spoke with Prime Minister @netanyahu over the phone. Prime Minister Netanyahu” (September 9, 2025).
Shortly after, Graham addressed those responsible for attacks against Israel and commented on future prospects for Palestinians: “To those who planned and cheered on the October 7 attack against Israel, the United States’ greatest ally in the region: This is your fate. To the Palestinian people: Your future depends on the political and military demise of Hamas. If Hamas lays down their weapons tomorrow,” (September 9, 2025).
Later that day, Graham turned to domestic issues by referencing a recent murder case involving an immigrant from Ukraine: “The murder of Iryna Zarutska by someone who should have been off the streets long ago needs to be met with not just sadness and disgust, but with action. The victim fled Ukraine and came to America to be safe. Her murder was a tragedy that could have been avoided. It is time” (September 9, 2025).
Senator Graham has frequently engaged in foreign policy discussions related to Israel and U.S.-Middle East relations. He has also voiced concerns over crime and immigration issues within the United States.
