Senator Lindsey Graham, a Republican from South Carolina, publicly commented on recent diplomatic developments involving President Donald Trump and efforts to end the ongoing war in Ukraine. In a series of posts on August 18 and 19, 2025, Graham credited Trump with significant progress toward peace.
Continuing his praise into the next day, Graham stated: “The progress made today toward ending this war is because of President @realDonaldTrump. Once again, he’s showing the world that peace is won through strength.” (August 19).
Later that same day, Graham reiterated his support for Trump’s approach: “Strength gets you dialogue and peace. Weakness brings about war. President @realDonaldTrump is leading with strength.” (August 19).
These comments come as international attention remains focused on negotiations between U.S., Ukrainian, and European leaders regarding the conflict in Ukraine. The Biden administration previously provided substantial military aid to Ukraine during its defense against Russian aggression; however, recent developments have shifted focus toward diplomatic solutions under Trump’s leadership.
Graham has been a vocal supporter of robust U.S. engagement in foreign policy matters related to Ukraine throughout both the Biden and Trump administrations.
