Quinnipiac defeated the Furman women’s lacrosse team 16-14 after scoring 11 goals in the second half, according to a March 15 announcement from Furman Athletics.
The game, held at Paladin Stadium in Greenville, saw Furman drop to a season record of 3-5 while Quinnipiac improved to 5-3. The result was decided by a strong comeback from Quinnipiac, who overcame a halftime deficit.
Allie Kandel led the Paladins with six goals and eight draw controls. Lily Toole contributed three goals and three assists. Other notable performances for Furman included Reynolds Hester with one goal and two assists, Emily Muir with two goals, and defensive efforts from Cassie Larsen and Charlotte Kent who each picked up three ground balls. Goalkeeper Madigan Brewer made five saves.
For Quinnipiac, Mia Delmond scored five goals and had two assists. Cate Bendowski added three goals and three assists, while Peyton Choma finished with three goals and two assists. Goalie Shannon Alden recorded four ground balls and three saves.
Furman led at halftime after scoring eight times in the second quarter for a 10-5 advantage. However, Quinnipiac outscored Furman 11-4 in the second half to secure the win. The Paladins managed only one goal over a span of more than twelve minutes late in the game as Quinnipiac built their lead.
