61 percent of applicants to Furman were admitted for fall 2018

At Furman, 98 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 59 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Greenville enrolled 2,947 students in fall 2018, including 2,768 in undergraduate and 179 in graduate programs, data shows. 1.2 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

26 percent of undergraduates are residents of South Carolina, and 71 percent are residents of other states. 3 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (76 percent) and Black or African American (7 percent).

The school admitted 61 percent of the 5,469 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 21 percent enrolled.
