Cost of college went up for all students at Greenville Technical College

In-state tuition and fees rose 3.5 percent for 2018-19 at Greenville Technical College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

South Carolina residents paid $4,974 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $168 more than the $4,806 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 82.5 percent more than residents this year, or $9,078. Their price tag grew 3.6 percent from $8,766 in 2017-18.

About 97 percent of the school's undergraduate population are South Carolina residents. About 2 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 93 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,564 students received grants or scholarships totaling $8.9 million and 414 students took out student loans totaling more than $2.1 million.

Including all undergraduates (10,864), 8,816 students used grants or scholarships totaling $31.5 million, and 3,169 students took out $17.7 million in federal student loans.
