Greenville Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on May 27.

Hey everybody, my name is Noah Barnett, and I am ecstatic to join the Leadership Development team at the Greenville Chamber of Commerce this summer. Outside of being an intern for Tami, I hope to make connections with all facets of the Chamber and of the Greenville community as a whole through this experience. I was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina and although this is my first time in Greenville, it reminds me of Charlotte in all the best ways, with some added perks like that beautiful river walk. Greenville seems like a city that will only continue to grow exponentially, and that’s what excites me about it.

This fall, I will be a Senior at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in hopes of graduating next May with a dual degree in International Economics and Political Science and a minor in Comparative Religion. Ever since I was young, I have always been interested in politics and the ways in which citizens can get involved and the Chamber of Commerce is a perfect example of that intersection. Combining the interests of businesses with the interests of local politics brings together both aspects of my future degree and will certainly be a great learning opportunity.

At Chapel Hill, I am heavily involved in Environmental Sustainability as well as Cultural Inclusion and Diversity. The student organization I founded, Carolina 360, focuses on the ways our community can revitalize our environment and keep it sustainable for generations to come, while also focusing on the diversity of our community and bringing those various mindsets and cultures into the frame. Outside of this, I have worked as a speechwriter for Student Government and as a board member of the Environment at Carolina governing body.

My career interests have always been rooted in international politics, my dream job being to work for the United Nations. My next step will be to work in Washington D.C. or within local government in Charlotte before law school where I hope to achieve a law degree to further my career even more. Overall, I am extremely excited to dive into any projects I can help with and even more excited to see how these projects and activities help the community of Greenville.
