South Carolina state Rep. Chandra Dillard has been tabbed as the first African American female named to the Greenville High School Wall of Fame.
In earning the distinction, Dillard also becomes the youngest inductee and the first to be nominated by a student.
“Honored to be included on the list,” Dillard, a 1983 Greenville graduate, wrote on Twitter. “Thanks Gabby Macrina for giving me the honor of a lifetime.”
School officials were also excited by the news, with the school posting on its Twitter page, “Greenville High was honored to induct 1983 grad Chandra Dillard into its Wall of Fame in the area of government. Congratulations to Rep. Dillard & family."
The Greenville High Alumni Wall of Fame is located in the front lobby of the school and nominations can be made on the school's website for alumni who were "outstanding students who have made significant contributions to the local and world community."
Representing the 23rd District, Dillard was first elected in 2008, and won re-election in November 2020, with nearly 97% of the vote.
Dillard currently serves on the House’s Ways and Means Committee and previously served on the Labor, Commerce and Industry and House Legislative Oversight committees.
