The Greenville Triumph defeated the Chattanooga Red Wolves, 1-0, for their second win in a row in a USL League One professional soccer match on Sept. 11.

The match was played at Legacy Early College without Triumph head coach John Harkes, who was forced to miss the game due to a breakthrough case of COVID-19.

"The victory was Greenville's second in a row as they continue to put a tough August in the rear view mirror and push to make the playoffs for a third consecutive season," the Greenville Triumph said in a statement.

The Triumph offense was staggering in the first half, outshooting the Red Wolves 9-1.

Chattanooga's Sebastian Capozuchhi was shown a straight red card after he connected a foot to the face of Greenville co-captain Aaron Walker in the 25th minute of the game, which gave an opening for Triumph's Allen Gavilanes and JJ Donnell to score in the first half.

In the 60th minute of the game, Triumph attacker Don Smart collected his second yellow card and the playing field was leveled.

Chattanooga intensified their attack in an attempt to tie the game, but Greenville's keeper Paul Christensen (12 saves) was able to fend off repeated shots and cinched the 1-0 shutout for the Triumph's second straight victory.
