Specialty chemicals provider Solvay recently completed expansion plans in Greenville County that are expected to bring as many as 30 new jobs to the area, according to a release from Gov. Henry McMaster's office.
Located in Piedmont, the company’s expansion includes the recently acquired Cytec Engineered Materials facility and comes after the Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded local government a $200,000 Set-Aside grant to assist with site preparation.
McMaster considers the earmark a wise investment.
“Solvay’s expansion is yet another example of the unparalleled success companies are finding in South Carolina,” McMaster said in the office release. “We thank Solvay for their continued partnership with our state and look forward to their future growth in Greenville County and beyond.”
McMaster isn’t the only state official excited by the possibilities.
“South Carolina has a rich history in the chemical production sector and today’s announcement by Solvay shows that this industry continues to flourish in the Palmetto State,” Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III said in the office release. “We congratulate Solvay on this expansion and thank them for their commitment to South Carolina.”
