The Unity Park project received a windfall after AT&T pledged $500,000 toward the development of the 60-acre property on Greenville’s west side.
AT&T, the largest contributor to the project over the last three years, marked the milestone on Sept. 27, when it presented a check to Greenville City Council, according to a city news release.
“We are grateful for AT&T’s participation in Unity Park and value its engagement on this transformative project,” Mayor Knox White said in the release.
The facility, which has raised more than $11 million to date, will feature a visitor center, pedestrian bridges and walking trails as well as playgrounds, the release said. It also will drive an effort to improve the Reedy River and refurbish Mayberry Park.
With its donation, AT&T is joined by Robert and Jennifer Donovan, Michelin Corporate Foundation, Duke Energy Foundation, the Spinks Family Foundation, Greenville Water, Auro Hotels, Craig and Vicki Brown, SYNNEX Corporation, Fluor Corporation, the Community Foundation of Greenville, and Greenville Women Giving in contributing to the project.
Phase I of the park is scheduled to open next spring, the city release said.
