Soccer club Greenville Triumph FC and Harvest Hope announced a partnership on Monday to fight hunger in upstate South Carolina.
As part of their partnership with the state's largest food bank, the Greenville Triumph aims to raise awareness on unique initiatives like the Backpack Program and National Hunger Awareness Month, according to an article on the club's website.
“Harvest Hope is excited to be partnering with the Greenville Triumph to fight hunger in the Upstate. September is Hunger Action Month, and what better way to help raise awareness of food insecurity in Greenville County than to begin this new partnership and teach fans how they can take action to build a hunger-free tomorrow in their local communities," Harvest Hope CEO Erinn Rowe said,
In addition to the club's September 19th match that featured a 50/50 raffle to benefit Harvest Hope, the Triumph will also develop into a year-round drop-off location for the food bank and include a donation box at the club's 22 S. Main St. team store.
Harvest Hope opened its doors in 1981 and currently serves 20 counties in South Carolina with a mission to end hunger and food insecurity across the state by receiving food from stores and distributing it to food pantries, shelters and soup kitchens.
