Jim Clements will remain as the president of Clemson University after its Board of Trustees recently approved a five-year contract extension, according to Clemson News.
Clements became the school’s 15th president in 2013, and has raised more than $1.2 billion in private funds and increased the value of the Clemson Foundation Endowment to more than $1 billion Clemson News said.
In addition, the report said, the university has also achieved athletic success under Clements, winning two national championships in football, two ACC titles in men’s soccer, and an ACC championship in the first full season of softball.
“This five-year extension is a reflection of Jim’s commitment to Clemson and the Board’s commitment to what we believe is the best university president in the country,” Kim Wilkerson, board chair, told Clemson News.
Clements serves on the board of the directors of the American Council of Education, the executive committee for the Council of Competitiveness, the Council of Presidents for the Association of Governing Boards, the College Football Playoff Board of Managers, and the Special Olympics International Board of Directors.
“I look forward to continuing the momentum we have achieved,” Clement told Clemson News. “While there is work to do, I remain dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the classroom, research labs, and on the athletic fields.”
