Arthrex has announced plans to expand operations in Anderson County, creating 500 new jobs with a $100 million investment.
The orthopedic surgical device company said earlier this month the expansion represents the company’s continued commitment to manufacturing quality products across the U.S., according to a press release from Gov. Henry McMaster's office.
“This investment will help Arthrex better support the growth and development of new and innovative products that help surgeons treat their patients better,” Andy Owen, Arthrex vice president of manufacturing, said in the governor's office release.
Arthrex was founded in 1981 and is a leader in orthopedic surgical device design, research, manufacturing and medical education. The company advances “minimally invasive orthopedics” worldwide through the development and release of more than 1,000 innovative products and surgical procedures each year.
Arthrex’s expansion will occur at 130 Arthrex Drive in Pendleton, adding a second manufacturing facility and an Electron-beam (E-beam) and X-ray sterilizations facility.
Anderson County Councilman Brett Sanders said the partnership with Arthrex has been exceeding beyond belief, stating the new jobs will improve the lives of hundreds of Anderson County families, according to the governor's office release.
The expansion is set to be completed by mid-2023.
