Nevada-based small arms and defense equipment firm S.W.O.R.D. International Inc. is relocating its manufacturing operations in Greenville County with $9.5 million investment that will create 55 new jobs.

“S.W.O.R.D. International is extremely excited to join the Greenville community as we expand our operations to support our military and law enforcement professionals.” Jason Hamilton, vice president of S.W.O.R.D. International, said in a release from Gov. Henry McMaster's office. “Several locations were considered during the course of this project, but the community and culture of Greenville made our decision easy.”

S.W.O.R.D. primarily produces weapons, robotics, and accessories for sale to law enforcement and the U.S. military. The company holds multiple patents for specialty rifles and other niche products.

The 44,0000-square-foot Greenville facility at 231 Beverly Road is intended to widen distribution and testing while speeding up production for rapid prototyping and innovation.

“S.W.O.R.D. International is extremely excited to join the Greenville community as we expand our operations to support our military and law enforcement professionals,” Hamilton said. “Several locations were considered during the course of this project, but the community and culture of Greenville made our decision easy.”

Willis Meadows, Greenville Area Development Corporation board member said he expects the company to thrive in Greenville County.

“Greenville County is always pleased to welcome a new company like S.W.O.R.D. International Inc. to grow and thrive here," Meadows said in the governor's office release. "“Its passion for being good community citizens and providing long-term career paths for veterans and other citizens fits well here. We wish SWORD great success.”

The project is expected to finish construction in January, and S.W.O.R.D. is hiring for its new Greenville positions. Veterans are encouraged to apply.
