Innovation: 2 patents granted in Greenville in week ending May 14

Patent 18

There were two patents granted in Greenville in the week ending May 14, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is two more than the week before. Patents included a package delivery with message management.

The earliest patent filed which was granted in the week ending May 14 belonged to Allen M. Ivester who filed in October 23, 2018.

The number of approved patents in the U.S. grew steadily from roughly 225,000 in 2009 to more than 285,000 in 2019. The number of patents approved suffered a slight downturn in 2020.

Gene Quinn with IPWatchdog said the system underneath patents have become unwieldy, specifically for medical innovations.
