Census Bureau: 5.3% of people in Greenville County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 519,178 citizens living in Greenville County in 2021, 94.7% said they were only one race, while 5.3% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Greenville County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 70.7% or 367,241 individuals. Following them, African American accounted for 17.2% and totaled 89,420 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Greenville County is 1.3% higher than the state average, which stands at 4%.
