South Carolina Congressman William Timmons, who has represented the state’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, posted a series of statements on social media addressing public safety and political leadership.
On August 11, 2025, Timmons criticized Democratic leaders, writing, “Democrats like Jeffries would rather preserve dangerous cities than admit their policies fail.” Later that day, he commented on the resignation and health concerns of a fellow lawmaker: “I am deeply saddened to hear of Senator Roger Nutt’s resignation and recent diagnosis. His dedicated service to the Upstate and the state of South Carolina has been marked by integrity, commitment, and genuine care for his community.”
Continuing his focus on crime statistics and public safety, Timmons posted on August 12: “100th homicide. Embassy attack. Carjackings. Congressional staffers killed. But don’t worry… crime is ‘down 30%.’”
William Timmons has served in Congress since replacing Trey Gowdy in 2019. He previously held office in the South Carolina Senate from 2016 to 2018. Born in Greenville in 1984, Timmons earned a BA from George Washington University and a JD from the University of South Carolina before returning to live in his hometown.
