Congressman William Timmons, who represents South Carolina’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media this week addressing Veterans Day and the recent government shutdown.
On November 11, Timmons marked Veterans Day with a message to his constituents: “Happy Veterans Day!
Serving the incredible veterans across the Upstate is one of the greatest priviliges of my job. People like Jim remind us why this work matters.
Thank you to every veteran for your service and sacrifice. We are forever grateful. https://t.co/SgDdRzMiL0” (posted November 11, 2025).
Two days later, on November 13, Timmons criticized House Democrats regarding their votes during an ongoing government shutdown: “207 Democrats just voted AGAINST ending the longest government shutdown in U.S. history.
6 weeks wasn’t enough suffering for our heroes in uniform or federal workers going unpaid? Families staring down empty fridges?
Partisan games over people. SAD! https://t.co/v3bOJZ2rE2” (posted November 13, 2025).
Shortly after that post, he announced his own vote on the matter: “Just voted to end the unnecessary 43-day Schumer Shutdown “ (posted November 13, 2025).
William Timmons has served as a member of Congress since replacing Trey Gowdy in 2019 and previously held office in the South Carolina Senate from 2016 to 2018. Born in Greenville, South Carolina in 1984, Timmons continues to reside there today and holds degrees from George Washington University and the University of South Carolina.
