Cost of college went up for all students at Furman

Tuition and fees rose 2.4 percent for 2018-19 at Furman, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

South Carolina students paid $49,532 to attend the four-year private not-for-profit institution this year – $1,184 more than the $48,348 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 94 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 657 students received grants or scholarships totaling $20.3 million and 262 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.9 million.

Including all undergraduates (2,947), 2,628 students used grants or scholarships totaling $86.2 million, and 904 students took out $6 million in federal student loans.
