A recent poll shows that a majority of Americans believe that parents who oppose CRT in their children's schools should be able to respond to it by taking some form of action.
Critical Race Theory has been a hot-button issue in the U.S. with the South Carolina Legislature recently passing a provision in the state budget that prohibits schools from teaching CRT in public schools. The budget goes on to state that it would withhold funding from any school that teaches CRT, according to the Greenville Times.
A survey conducted by the Trafalgar Group, July 12-13, in conjunction with the Convention of States Action, asked 1,091 likely general election voters their views regarding CRT.
The poll found that nearly 81% of respondents back some form of action, including parents teaching "their views at home without interfering at school," according to the Trafalgar Group study.
However, the survey also found that there wasn’t a consensus on what action to take, with 29.9% saying parents should teach their views at home without interference at school, 27.7% supporting removing a child from school, and 24.1% saying that parents should run or support candidates for school board that would take control of the school's governing body, according to the Trafalgar Group study.
The results were split by party, with 84.2% of Republicans likely to support parental response to CRT in schools, compared to 78.4% of Democrats, and 80% of Independents and/or Third Party respondents backed action, according to the Trafalgar Group.
The Convention of States Action is a grassroots political organization with over 5 million supporters across the U.S.
The organization's objective is on calling an Article V Convention of the States to propose amendments to the U.S. Constitution and only promotes amendments which would impose limitations on the size and scope of the federal government.
