A hospice and palliative care company's plans announced earlier this week to expand its corporate headquarters into Spartanburg County falls in line with its growth, a company official said in a recent news release from Gov. Henry McMaster's office.

The $3 million expansion investment is expected to create 76 new jobs, according to the release.

Agape Care Group, a portfolio company of Charlotte-based Ridgemont Equity Partners long headquartered in Spartanburg, is a hospice, palliative and pediatric comfort care provider serves all of South Carolina and 83 counties in Georgia, more than half of that state, according to information on its website.

"Substantial growth over the last few years has necessitated a larger corporate headquarters," Agape Care Group CEO Troy Yarborough said in the governor's office release. "We were drawn to all the downtown Spartanburg area offers and are excited about our ability to recruit and retain top talent with our new offices in the historic Montgomery Building.

"We are appreciative of the support shown to Agape by the city of Spartanburg and OneSpartanburg, Inc. and look forward to our pending move."

In July, Agape Care Group announced its commitment to continue expansion strategy in the U.S. Southeast with its acquisition of Integrity Hospice in Georgia.

The more recent news release, Agape Care Group's expansion in the historic Montgomery Building at 187 N. Church St., in downtown Spartanburg will take up more than 13,000 square feet of recently renovated space. The expansion will house knowledge-based jobs and other skilled clerical positions.

The expansion is good for Spartanburg, Spartanburg County Councilman and Economic Development Committee Chairman David Britt said in the governor's office release.

"Agape Care locating downtown is the latest success that has been fueled by the collaborative nature of our community," Britt said. "This project is a great example of the city of Spartanburg and Spartanburg County working together to attract high-wage jobs."

Operations in the expansion are expected to be online in May of next year.
