Greenville Technical College: GTC's OB Ultrasound Clinic now booking appointments for free ultrasounds

8

Greenville Technical College issued the following announcement on February 8.

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program at Greenville Technical College is now booking appointments to the public for free OB ultrasounds at its OB Ultrasound Clinic on the Barton Campus, now through early August during both the Spring and Summer Semester.

These ultrasounds are performed by students in the ultrasound lab under direct supervision. Live 4D scanning will be performed and 3D pictures will be provided to all patients. Scanning labs are for expectant mothers between 22 and 30 weeks gestational age at time of their appointment.

Typically this is a fun and educational time for parents as they get to hear more about what sonographers do during an ultrasound as well as see their babies growth. Exams take about one hour.

Appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis and at a limited capacity out of an abundance of caution regarding COVID-19.

Interested parents should note:

  • Written approval from your primary OB physician on either physician office letterhead or prescription pad is required at time of scheduling appointment. The printed document must reflect the patient’s name and be presented at time of appointment to participate in the lab.
  • Labs are for training purposes only and will in no way be a substitute for an official ultrasound examination ordered by your physician.
  • A release form must be signed by the patient prior to scan.
  • Masks must be worn during the appointment and inside all buildings on GTC campuses. The college is following safety protocols and operational procedures for the well-being of our students, employees and customers.
To schedule an appointment, call (864) 250-8290.
