Bon Secours Richmond Community Hospital has been awarded with an ‘A’ from The Leapfrog Group’s fall 2022 Hospital Safety Grade. This national distinction recognizes the hospital’s achievements in protecting hospital patients from preventable harm and errors.
The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization with a 10-year history of assigning letter grades to general hospitals throughout the United States, based on a hospital’s ability to prevent medical errors and harm to patients. The Safety Grade assigns a letter grade to hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures on preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents and infections, as well as other systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm to patients in their care.
“I applaud the hospital leadership and workforce for their strong commitment to safety and transparency,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “An ‘A’ Safety Grade is a sign that hospitals are continuously evaluating their performance, so that they can best protect patients. Your hospital team should be extremely proud of their dedication and achievement.”
Developed under the guidance of a national expert panel, The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospital prevention of medical errors and harms to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
