Congressman William Timmons, representing South Carolina's 4th district, recently shared his views on several key issues via social media. Timmons, who has served in Congress since 2019 and previously held a position in the South Carolina Senate, expressed opinions on postal service vehicle requirements, government spending regulations, and a recent nomination for Secretary of Defense.
On December 10, 2024, Timmons addressed the topic of electric postal vehicles. He stated, "We do not need tens of thousands of electric postal vehicles, we just need postal vehicles." Timmons also voiced his eagerness to collaborate with President Trump to reduce what he perceives as excessive spending and regulations implemented by the Biden administration.
Later that day, Timmons commented on a contract related to USPS mail trucks. In response to a Reuters article dated December 6, he wrote, "We must ensure the USPS deliver results expected by the American people, not force Biden Administration EV mandates into a contract." He expressed interest in working with Oshkosh regarding this matter.
On December 11, 2024, Timmons praised President Trump's nomination of Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense. He remarked that "President Trump made an excellent choice in nominating Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense." Despite media criticism of Hegseth's nomination, Timmons highlighted Hegseth's military background and vision for national defense.
