Congressman William Timmons, who has been serving South Carolina's 4th District since 2019, recently expressed concerns over declining education scores in the United States. Through a series of tweets, Timmons highlighted troubling statistics and pledged collaborative efforts to address these issues.

On March 20, 2025, Timmons pointed out alarming trends in educational achievement. He stated: " 13-year-olds’ mathematics scores are the lowest they have been in decades. 13-year-olds’ reading scores are the lowest since testing began over 30 years ago. In 2023, 13 Baltimore, Maryland, high schools had ZERO students who tested proficient in mathematics."

In another tweet from the same day, he commented on spending and educational outcomes: "Mathematics and reading scores are down in public schools, despite per-pupil spending having increased by more than 245% since the 1970s."

Further expressing his intent to tackle these challenges, Timmons announced cooperation with former President Trump: "House Republicans will work with President Trump to improve education in America! @HouseGOP" This indicates a commitment to policy reform aimed at enhancing educational standards.
