Congressman William Timmons, representing South Carolina’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared his views on strategic tariffs, national sovereignty, and trade policy via a series of tweets.

On April 2, 2025, Timmons emphasized the importance of "strategic tariffs", stating that they "protect industries critical to national security and supply chain resilience" and noting that "weak trade deals gutted our industrial base—this correction was long overdue!"

Later the same day, Timmons highlighted his perspective on "real leadership", asserting that it involves "prioritizing sovereignty over short-term convenience." He credited this approach with strengthening "national security and middle-class jobs," and thanked President Joe Biden in his tweet.

On April 3, 2025, Timmons posted a more lighthearted tweet about global trade barriers. He captioned the post "LIBERATION DAY BINGO!" and speculated on the "countries will lower their trade barriers first," humorously predicting "a full board blackout by next week."
