Greenville recently joined Charleston on Conde Nast Traveler's top 10 Best Small Cities to Live in list.
Greenville ranked 5th and Charleston ranked 2nd in the magazine's 34th annual Readers’ Choice Awards survey filed out by approximately 800,000 readers.
"Congratulations to @CityCharleston and @CityGreenville on being named in the top 10 list of Best Small Cities by @CNTraveler. From the beautiful Falls Park in Greenville to the historic Battery in Charleston, both cities offer an extraordinary experience," South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster wrote in a tweet.
Greenville was chosen for its "farm-to-table scene that continues to rise in the ranks and its craft beer scene is seeing a similar explosion" while paired with dynamic urban spaces and natural resources including both Falls Park and Swamp Rabbit, the magazine stated.
Charleston topped the list due to its "history, culture, food, charm" and has made the list ten years running, the Conde Nast Traveler website said. Charleston is known for its "nationally recognized food and culture festivals" and the "stately homes, cobblestone streets, waterfront views, and an abundance of flowering window boxes."
Other cities that made the list includes Newport, Rhode Island; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Savannah, Georgia; Key West, Florida; Carmel by the Sea, California; Santa Fe, New Mexico; Alexandria, Virginia; and Aspen, Colorado.
